This seems to be one of a kind. I'm sure it is not but I can not find anything like it. I found this in a shed at a house I bought in about 1970. It is made by W.E. Co. L.A. Cal. I have tried unsucessfully to find anything about this company. On the label in the picture and in the metal on the handle it has..... GUIDE-FREE...PAT. PEND. The silver metal piece that locks the reel on says....CAM-LOCK..PAT. PEND........on the metal handle and the label it has W.E. Co. L.A. Cal. The entire pole is a little over 5 feet long. The fishing line goes through the inside of the rod. The hollow part tapers down about every two inches. The outside is ribbed. The end where the line comes out is a smooth ferrel. The tube is made out of a different metal than the handle. I would not bet my life on the fact that it is metal. The entire rod weighs only about 12 ounces. It makes a metalic sound when you tap on it. It has a somwhat brass appearance to it. I can not get a good picture of it. It is missing a small piece of cork on one side of the butt. Other than that it seems to be in great shape. It also has a number on the handle.......# 5-10208. If you are reading this and have info. on the W.E. Co. I would appreciate knowing what I have here. THIS WILL BE SHIPPED INSIDE OF A CARDBOARD CARPET TUBE.
