This is the original hand-drawn (penciled and inked) art for the Wednesday April 23, 1958 daily strip of The Berrys, by Carl Grubert. It also has some shading added in, with what looks like light blue watercolors (probably used to indicate color for the colorist or printer). The strip is in very good condition, and still has the 1958 Field Enterprises, Inc. copyright piece attached in the last panel. The full page is large, measuring approximately 20" by 7 1/4" (which I believe is about standard size for most newspaper strip original art). This is a great piece of original artwork from the long-running series that lasted over 30 years (I believe from 1942-1974). It's a really nice example, with a very funny third and fourth panel, that include some classic comedic facial expressions. Please note that the full strip is too large to fit in the scanner, so the picture is a collage that was done by pasting together partial scans of the left side and the right side. Please ignore any lines in the scan. The actual piece looks great. This is a great piece that would look fantastic framed and prominently displayed, and would be an outstanding addition to any collection.
