This was a interesting estate I attended, of an HP engineer designer, hidden away in a dry attic area I found some unique bikes, well preserved free from the ravages of moisture they weathered the time well up in the attic. See my Kmart all pro auction for a matched set of them with 30 miles on the odometers.
This I imagine was his second attempt at cycling, wife and husbands matched Kmart set only had 30 miles plus on them, this one has a few more, not much more but it was used, in town ect, has some frame scratching and paint loss in the typical places where things rubbed against it during his travels. A smaller sized frame, not quite small but not exactly medium either. Later for the measurements, like the other two bikes, there was actually five total but two were a matched set of diamond back mtbs from the late 80s the third attempt at cycling near as I could tell.
I am not sure of the date, I will provide serial number for you centurion frame dating experts, but probably one of the earlier models of the le mans line, the upper end of the mid line bikes, the frame is made of special light tubing, thats what the sticker says, and it has a nice ping to it on the top tube especially, how light or what the specs are I do not know.
Sakae custom aluminum drop bars, road champion model, SR aluminum stem, frame set is made in Japan, 3 piece crank aluminum tourney arms, suntour derailluers front and rear, V-GT luxe on the rear one SL on the front, the pedals are cage type, with the one side aspect with reflector on the bottom teeth on the top side of the front and back edges, unmarked. Dia-compe dual position brake levers and brakes, a nice quick release of brake tension set up similar to the later shimano camming levers, chrome steel seatpost, and sunshine wide flange hubs. Tires are in great shape besides a few side wall crack spots from age. 27" steel chromed rims. 10 speed and the saddle is toast, one of the internal side panels is cracked and missing a chunk, the hard plastic underlayment below the foam and vinyl. 21-1/2" across the top tube from center of head tube to center of seat post tube, and 19" from center of bottom bracket to center of top tube along the seatpost tube. No dents or cracks or bends, as I said some scratches and chips in the paint from use. Serial number is 1984 which is not the bike frames date, an older model 10 speed and probably an earlier 70's one from what I can tell by components and the single color paint job. A burgandy deep clear coat gloss, the tops of the tubes are dusty from the attic, but when you turn the bike over the color is both vibrant and clean.
