Seller: thehistorybank (12,227) 99.9%, Location: Woodinville, Washington, Ships to: US, Item: 112210162779 This small sauce or dipping dish is from the famous 1822 wreck of the Tek Sing, which went down in the China Sea with a huge cargo of porcelain, but also with a crew and more than 1,000 passengers. The wreck was discovered only recently and much of the cargo recovered. Many dishes and other pieces were corroded and fused together, others were broken, but many were in excellent and displayable condition. This piece has two minor chips but the surface and the painting are outstanding examples of the nearly 200-year-old Chinese commercial dishes that were headed for other markets.
