* Although there are 2 doors available, the list price is for 1 door only.
If you are planning on buying only 1 door please email us to let us
know which door you'd like. The first 3 photos show Door#1 and last 4 show Door#2.
Beautiful, antique, interior doors salvaged from an old, home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The doors are made of solid Douglas Fir
or pine and are stained on one side and painted on the other side. They have 5 raised, horizontal, stacked panels on both sides.
When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft wood. New pine
hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have the same insect-resistant,
rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees
hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young
pine.
Hardware: No hardware
included, however, w e
have a good selection of period hardware in our eBay store, and tons more in our
physical store.
* If you would like any of the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, please email us for a quote.
Uneven Width :
The width of Door#1 was unevenly cut by 1/4" . We could cut it door to an even 29 5/8", or cut it narrower/shorter, or even build it up to be wider/taller--email us for a quote .
Condition:
Both doors are strong, sturdy, and in great structural condition. They have
nicks and scratches, but no broken or cracked joints, rot, warp, or any
other serious issues. The worst damage is a break on Door#2. A portion of the
molding and some of the wood next to it on the middle panel of the exterior side
broke off (see last photo). However,
Most of the blemishes that they have will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks".
Strip/Refinish : We could strip/refinish,
or partially or completely strip the door(s) to prepare it/them for you to
repaint or refinish. We have
MANY photos of doors that we've restored that could give you an idea of how
these doors could clean up . Email us with
a small description of what you would like done , and we'll give
you a quote. .
Swing:
The hinge mortises span the thickness of the doors which allow you to install
your hinges on either side of the door and define which way it swings.
Modification: Do you want to make a pair using these 2 doors? Do you want to replace the panels
with glass, screen/mesh, or something else? We could modify the doors to fit
your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the
height or width, reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with
a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
