I'm offering this superb system because I've retired (at 86) and am changing my life focus. Asahi Pentax (legendary) Spotmatic 35 mm Camera SYSTEM: This high quality, Japanese-made, focal plane shutter, single lens reflex camera system is a steal at $510. The included items bought separately could easily exceed $1400. I say "legendary" as this camera set new standards of performance when it was introduced. As to its performance (some details below), if you have seen the recent hit Netflix series "Devil in Ohio," look closely and you will see that this is the camera used by the photography-crazed daughter for her documentaries. NOTE 1 of 3: This is a rare bargain for a mature high school or college student or anyone looking to major or get established in photography as a profession. It is a complete, quality 35 mm setup that is ready for a studio setup or a field trip by an Entomologist who wants to photograph bugs, a nature photographer, or a star gazer who wants to capture meteoroid entries into the atmosphere. Please read the posted picture of text for some details on this camera's breakthrough development. A COMPLETE System: Included is the camera body, the standard Asahi Takumar 50 mm lens and three other lenses. They are an Asaki Takumar 24 mm wide angle lens, a Vivitar 2X telephoto extender lens (which works well with the 50 mm lens to give a 100 mm focal length), and a 85 - 205 mm Panagor telephoto lens, all with leather cases. There is a bellows unit that gives magnification of 0.62 to 2.45 for amazing close up photography; multiple lens light filters (skylight, polaroid, etc.) and macro screw-on lenses for quick closeup shots without extenders or bellows changeouts; two sun shades (for different lens diameters); a sturdy hand mount (a great tool) with provision for mounting the camera and a flash; a primary flash unit with multiple color filters plus a second companion flash-activated flash unit (triggered by light when the first flash goes on); a separate Sekonic analog light meter for measuring ambient, object, and background lighting levels; operating manuals for the camera, the bellows (with very educational photography details), and the auxiliary flash unit; interconnecting electronic cables for the flashers (short and long); and mechanical cables (short and long) for remote shutter control (normally for when using a camera tripod); carrying straps and cases for the camera, all lenses, lens filters, lens macros, and extra film cartridges; and finally included is a large, imitation leather, multi-partitioned carrying satchel that will carry all of the above. As an added bonus, I'm including the acclaimed National Geographic Photographers Field Guide (see details near the end of this post). The camera has many convenient features (see top picture of camera). A handy film reminder of Empty, Black/White or Color film; a shutter speed setting dial to indicate the continually open Bulb (for star tracking or timed night shots) and from 1 ms (millisecond) to 1,000 ms (1 second); the ring on the shutter speed control can be raised to set the film speed rating for an amazing ASA range of 20 to 1600; a counter for the film shots remaining is provided on the film advancement lever; a simple lever for delaying shutter time from 0-10 seconds (on front of camera, allows you to get into the picture); and two electrical connection receptacles for separate flash units. One OUTSTANDING feature that led the industry when introduced is an internal light meter, visible via the viewfinder, that lets you know for the film speed, shutter speed, attached lens, and lens F-stop settings that the picture will be over, under, or properly exposed. Manual calculations and adjustments when using bellows or other extenders are NOT needed as the integral meter correctly reads your exposure THROUGH the taking lens, no matter what lens and accessories are being used. It depends on a 1.35 volt button battery (accessed via bottom, see picture), and an extra battery is included. There is an ON/OFF switch on the left front of the camera body to preserve battery life which can last for years.  The camera and companion lenses provide automatic iris control and the lenses have a sliding selection control for automatic or manual control for specialized work. This control also is used as a "preview" lever (details on use is in the manual). The shutter button next to the shutter speed dial has female screw threads for attaching a remote shutter control cable when using a tripod (short and long shutter cables are included). Often of use, by restricting film advancement, this camera allows you to take multiple exposures on a single film frame. Still another feature is the provision to use a vision correction, shading eyepiece shown in the shutter cable picture. The one in the picture is a +1 diopter (as I recall). Like I said, this is a complete, high quality system that I have used very little since retiring. NOTE 2 of 3: This camera is still widely used and other quality Asahi Takumar lenses are available on E-Bay, typically ranging from $100 to $300+ (Examples: Asahi Fish-Eye Takumar F/11 18mm Wide Angle Pancake Camera Lens With Case, $178. Or, Pentax 135mm F/2.5 Super Takumar M42 Lens, $134.) These prices testify to what a bargain this system is. CHARACTER: I need to point out small dents on the top center and top front of the camera body. While camping in Yosemite National Park, a black bear decided the leather case smelled like it might be food and took a bite at it. I was not going to physically argue with him, but yelled at him anyway. He quickly dropped the camera and took off running. The minor dents add "character" to the camera, but have no affect on its performance. The dents are visible in the pictures if you look closely. NOTE 3 of 3: Local pickup is preferred. Pickup in Santa Clara, CA is free, and I will throw in a flood light reflector and a light bar as well. Any shipping cost is to be borne by arrangement with the buyer. RE The National Geographic Photographers Field Guide: This guide is a treasure trove of the world of photography. Beginning photographers will find this an effective educational reference, and the more experienced will benefit from detailed advice from National Geographic's greats. The book manages to cover this range without being either condescending or talking above the heads of newcomers. It covers a myriad of picture taking skills and composition for weddings, portraits, nature, still lifes, landscapes, buildings, children and babies, night photography, different film types and speeds, and other. The guide contains well over 100 professional photos as good examples for all these categories. It also provides special techniques to master your camera's features, including special lighting schemes, filters, close-up equipment, flash, tripods, and more.
