Circa 1830's 11 lb heavy old used spike maul. 9 1/2 inch long by 6 inch wide. In as found all original condition. Interesting cracked edge from repeated pounding of pegs. Printed on side is number 10 That is for number of lbs the hammer weighs.
A helpful Ebay viewer from England added this info: The hammer head was designed for knocking in pegs on the great western railway and prob. taken to build railways in other country's so it's English approx 1830's, and used by the builders of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's railways
