Revell AG Germany 1/72 US Navy Torpedo Boat PT 167 Ship Model Kit - 00026

 The Revell Classics Line is a limited re-issue of select model kits from the 1950s, 60s, or 70s. In order to ensure that this model kit resembles the original product as closely as possible, the packaging was made true-to-style using the previous original illustration as well as original decals. This model kit was produced using the original mold that was manufactured more than 30 or 40 years ago. These small and maneuverable US Navy torpedo boats were feared opponents in the Second World War and were mainly used in large numbers in the Pacific. On 5.11.1943 PT 167, under the command of Captain Theodore Berlin, was fiercely attacked by Japanese torpedo bombers at Cape Torokina during a convoy. During this dramatic battle a Japanese torpedo went right through the bow of PT 167 without exploding. Fortunately, due to its robust construction, the boat was able to continue its voyage.

This plastic model kit requires plastic cement and paint for assembly, and they are sold separately.
