Paragon Q-11-A The Q-11A was out of production, but I asked Paragon to build them for us, as they are exactly what we need as small refiners. I have had and used mine since 1985 with no problems yet! They seem to last forever, and if something goes wrong, replacement parts are readily available for them. I have sold hundreds of these on ebay and have had no problems yet! You can easilly put four (4) 15 gram grucibles in at a time, and you can easily put in six (6) 1.5" cupels, or two 3" melting dishes... This is a must have for any serious small refiner (I own three now), and is the best priced small kiln for what it does on the market. The Q11A is very well built, and will last a lifetime if cared for. These kilns are built to order, and can take from 1-3 weeks before Paragon ships, depending on how busy they are. The Q-11A fires rapidly to 2350F on a common 120 volt household outlet. It is light-weight, portable, and powerful. Create breathtaking jewelry or small keepsakes using almost any medium you can imagine: enameling, silver clay, china painting, glass, lost wax casting, and ceramics. The Q-11A comes with an infinite control switch, safety pilot light, and pyrometer (temperature sensor). The kiln includes a vent hole with cover in the door. The switch, pilot light, and pyrometer are mounted in the kiln base to save table space. The front control panel is tilted for easy operation. Adjust the firing speed with the infinite control switch. It cycles on and off through a bi-metallic timer. The higher the switch setting, the longer the heating elements stay on during each cycle. When the switch is turned to High, the elements stay on continuously. (Note: The switch does not automatically hold a temperature. It requires small adjustments to maintain a temperature hold.) The Q-11A heating elements, exposed in dropped, recessed insulating firebrick grooves, are easy to replace. Unlatch and open the door with one hand. No extra stand is needed; the built-in base stays cool during operation. The Q-11A ships by UPS within the U.S. to give you lower shipping cost and faster service. Specially designed cartons and foam padding assure that the kiln will arrive safely. Paragon kilns are built to be dependable. They are loaded with attention to details, such as the costly nickel-plated copper wire with high temperature glass-braided insulation. Wires are fastened to the elements with heat-dissipating connectors refined and proven over many years in Paragon kilns. If you are having difficulty choosing a large kiln, experiment with a variety of techniques in a small E-series kiln. Then choose a larger kiln later when you have a better idea of the projects you are interested in.
