Phra Sum Kar , Phra Soom Kor of Kamphangphet

Phra Sum Kar is from Kamphaeng Phet Province. When Somdej Toh came to visit relatives in 1849, he found Phra Sum Kor amulets at Wat Phraboromthat Nakhonchum (Thai: วัดพระบรมธาตุนครชุม ) together with tablets explaining amulet making process. He later used the recipe to make his own Phra Somdej Wat Rakhang. This amulet is found throughout Thung Sethi (Thai: ทุ่งเศรษฐี ) in Kamphangphet.

Phra Soomkor Phra Somgor were first discovered on B.E. 2392 in Wat Phra Boromathat, Kamphaeng Phet province.

The amulets were created in the era King Phra Maha Dharmarajalitai, the 5th king of Sukhothai.

Phra Somgor is a mixture of Sukhothai-Lanka (Sri Lanka) style. It form a sitting posture of a thumb shape.

According to memorandum of Wat Phra Boromathat, Phra Somgor amulets were made by 11 hermits or Phra Lersi using special materials and invited Devadas to create the molds. There is a slogan for Phra Somgor " If you have me, you never get poor". This is sometimes called the Buddha of Fortune. It was said that when these amulets were found, an inscription “Poverty will never fall on those who possesses this amulet ” was written in the chedi.

Amulets have different kind of sizes, different shapes and different materials such as plaster, bone, wood, metal. It may include ash from incenses or old temple structure, hair from famous monk, to add protection power to the amulets.After the amulets were made, the maker will then ask the monks who live in temples or monks from other temples join together and practice will, chant, pray and bless the amulets, this process may need at least one week more than five years.

Phra Sum Kor is from Kamphaeng Phet Province.
