This is an unsmoked, new old stock John Surrey Ltd. Golden Burl Prima briar estate pipe. Pipe dates from the 1950s. Surrey was a New York tobacco shop that imported pipes made in Great Britain, putting his name on them (see last photo, 1953 Palm Beach Post ad). Pipe has an interesting, pretty, almost-multicolored stain. In good original unsmoked condition, with a 1/2-inch hairline surface check on the left side of the shank — does not go through. Bowl and shank measure 2-5/8 inches. Bowl is 1-1/2 inches tall and 1-1/8 inches wide. Overall length is 5-3/8 inches.
Please see photos for details (* pipe holder is not included *). Keep checking back in the coming weeks as I will be listing more estate pipes.
