In the two-year period 1933 - 1934 he attended the decoration course at the Andrea Fantoni School of Art in Bergamo. He then enrolled in the sculpture course at the Carrara Academy of Bergamo where he obtained the license in 1939 . He was a pupil of the painter Contard Barbieri and of the sculptor Gianni Remuzzi , whose studio he also attended for several years. In the 1941 he was drafted into the Air Force as assistant engineer. On the Mediterranean front he obtained the cross for military valor. In July 1942 , during a short license-award, he obtained his artistic maturity diploma in Milan at the Brera art school. In December of the same year, he married Franca Petténi, daughter of Julian ( 1894 - 1930 ), poet and writer, with whom he had three children Pierfranco, Gabriella and Silvia. In May of 1943 was taken prisoner in Africa by the Anglo-Americans and transferred to the United States . In the prison camps, however, he was allowed to carry out various types of artistic activities, arousing the interest of the local press. Repatriated in January of 1946 taught drawing in state schools until 1971 . At the same time he devoted himself to sculpture, graphics, painting and medals. He took part in local and national competitions, as well as in local, national and international group exhibitions, obtaining prizes and awards. From the 1949 to the 1958 collaborated with the sculptor Arrigo Minerbi with whom he created numerous works. From the 1961 to the 1971 he devoted himself to his major work, the monumental one Way of the cross in bronze, commissioned to him for the Temple of Ognissanti in the Bergamo Cemetery, unique in its kind in terms of size and conception. In addition to his pre-eminent activity in the public and monumental field, he willingly worked on free subjects for personal pleasure or on subjects linked to the great problems of the contemporary world. He drew intensely giving the most exact and most spontaneously free measure of his creative abilities, often fixing the preparatory studies of the works that he was then gradually creating in marble or bronze with incisive and vibrant strokes. His works are in Italian and foreign museums, organizations and institutions.
