This auction is for brilliant doll artist Heidi Plusczok’s 1995 LAURA - an EXTREMELY rare doll – why? Because there are only 25 of them worldwide. I’ve owned many Plusczok dolls over the years, but I can honestly say without hesitation that Laura is my favorite. I love that she’s a SITTING porcelain doll, sparing me the worry of finding the perfect stand so she won’t topple over in an earthquake! You can seat her safely at your desk, a bookshelf, a dolly chair, the lawn! She has a porcelain head and shoulder plate, as well as porcelain lower arms and legs, with a cloth body. Her original price in 1995 was $2200 and she was nominated for the Dolls Magazine Award of Excellence. She has been carefully displayed in my smoke-free home, never redressed or restyled because – why trifle with perfection?
I guess I grew so complacent about how she couldn’t possibly break (she hadn't for 28 years, anyway) that when I decided to list her, I carelessly broke two fingers on one of her hands. As you can see in the photos, it’s a very clean break and IMHO, easy to fix with Super Glue – that said, I’m not going to fix it, because I'm one of the klutziest people on the planet, so I’ll send the two broken fingers for someone more coordinated to repair.
Aside from two fingers, I see nothing wrong with her – she isn’t minty brand new (who among us is, after twenty eight years?) but I don’t see other damage. These are photographs of the exact Laura that you will receive. I couldn’t find her CofA, just this little flier type thing with some info that I photographed. If I find it, I’ll be happy to send it along (but it might take another 28 years at this rate). Please ask questions if you have them as all sales are final but check my feedback and bid with confidence.
If the cost of shipping freaks you out - and it probably will, if you check USPS first - please check the prices via UPS and FedEx. In my experience, when it comes to larger boxes, those services usually cost less than USPS. Please understand I don't set the shipping prices for any of the major carriers - in fact, I can safely say they couldn't care less what I think - so tell them their shipping prices are too high, not me. I charge $7 handling which I will apply to fully insuring Laura on her journey. If it costs more than that, I'll cover the difference. If you want to comparison shop shipping yourself, the box will weigh about 8 pounds and measure 20x202x16..
Thank you for viewing my auction.
