Here is a neat grouping of two items from a Brooklyn NY mason from the 1930s. The silk apron is absolutely gorgeous with silver embroidered masonic emblem and radiating eye on flap. Blue silk tassels for tying to the waist. It is embroidered and identified under the flap: "Schiller No. 304 F.& A.M. 1909 Br. August Gebelein 1934" It is in perfect, beautiful condition as retains the original box!! Also included in this lot is a great photo from the early 1900s showing the owner of this apron (2nd from right) August Gebelein. The frame is nice and of the period measuring 13 x 15" and is in excellent condition. The aprons the men wear in the photo are different, but do read from the same Brooklyn lodge 304. I purchased these items directly from the niece of the owner, who pointed him out in the photo. It seems that the photo was taken ca. 1909 around the time the gentleman was initiated and that the apron was a 25-year gift made in 1934. According to a Google search I found out this lodge was a German speaking lodge, which makes sense given the names of the lodge and the owner.
