2 Vintage Bread And Butter Plates Stonehenge Winter by Midwinter , crafted in England.
The Stonehenge "Winter" pattern, of oven to tableware range, was designed by Eve Midwinter in 1974 and produced by Midwinter Pottery until the 80's.
The pattern features embossed stylised winter roses, ice white on ivory white. The glaze is a clear, unspeckled white, and the fine brown line to edge bears no resemblance to the chunky studio-style finish on many of the Stonehenge designs.
This may have been intended for a more conservative market, with just a nod to the relief motifs which so powerfully mark other Stonehenge patterns of the 1970s.
This set of ates is in excellent vintage condition, free of cracks or chips, shows some light surface scratching and utensil marks consistent with age and previous use.
Backstamped with maker's mark .
Each plate measures approximately 7" in diameter.
