Seller: meliora1 (402) 100%, Location: West Jefferson, North Carolina, Ships to: US & many other countries, Item: 222322511959 INFORMATION: These are wonderful - I have seen nothing like them in all my years of "antiquing". They came from one of the Cone Mansions on Summit Avenue in Greensboro, NC. (Cone Mills - famous for cotton terry, flannel and denim). In the late 1960s they were dismantling the inside of the house for adapted use, and I purchased these at an architectural effects sale. I never saw them mounted, so do not know for what doors or drawers they were originally intended. I wanted four of them for a serving table I have whose drawers have no knobs, but they are out of proportion to that piece of furniture. As elegant as they are, I never found a use for them, and they have been carefully packed away for 46 years. Since the house from which they came was built in the 1870s, the knobs are at best determination about 145 years old. PARTICULARS: I measured every piece I could measure and took copious pictures. The knob from brass back plate to top is 2 inches high (deep). The glass knob is 2 1/2 inches in diameter and 7 inches in circumference. The bolt alone is 2 3/4 inches long, but when assembled it protrudes from the back plate 1 1/2 inches beyond. The back plate is 1 5/8 inches in diameter. The knobs assembled weighs 6.3 ounces each. Please notice the notches cut into the glass for some unknown purpose. You can not see them at all when the knob is installed. The glass knobs are in perfect shape - no scratches, gouges, scrapes, discoloration or any other blemish. The brass plates are solid brass and over time the protective coating has been compromised. They need cleaning to restore the gleam. The plates need shining, but are in perfect physical shape - no scratches or cuts. I am loathed to part with these, but this is my last house, and they need a far more elegant display than my linen closet bifold door. NITTY-GRITTY: I ship on the next business day after payment is received, using USPS or FedEx. I do not ship to P.O. boxes. If the purchase price is more than $24.00, I pay for the insurance. I do not charge a handling fee. I accept returns, but please study the pictures and the descriptions carefully and contact me through eBay with any questions to try and avoid returns. PayPal handles the payments. Thank you for visiting MILES AWAY* (*from the ordinary) and please return soon. Condition: The glass knob portion is in perfect shape. The brass is also in perfect shape, but needs cleaning and lacquering. The bottom where it meets to brass is worn on some knobs., Color: Clear, Maker: Unknown, Material: Glass abd Brass, Era: 1870-1890
