Standing at her side on her left, is a Doctor who is holding her hand and feeling her pulse. He is apparently urging his opinion of the lady’s troubles, and is trying to win the doctor who stands opposite, on the lady’s right hand and who has probably been brought in for a consultation to his view of the case, but without success, as he is indignantly buttoning up his coat and preparing to leave. He has his umbrella under his left arm. A small table stands in front of them. This group was a particular favorite of physicians in whose offices it was often displayed.
