Seller: detroitriver (2,404) 100%, Location: West Branch, Michigan, Ships to: US, Item: 162271719873 I reference unknown for country of origin because I'm unsure if these medals were made in Canada or the USA. I bought a bunch of antiques from a guy in Monroe, Michigan years ago. He had French maps, early Detroit hand drawn maps and all sorts of other items related to the Detroit area. He had a grandfather from Canada that was half French. He acquired all of these items from his grandfather's estate. The grandfather lived in Sandwich, Ontario. He died in the late 1960's. The guy I bought these items from had them in storage for years. At the time I had read an estate sale publication in the Monroe Evening News. When I showed up there were two other antique dealers in the room. As well all watched this guy open a box full of misc. items these two medals were in it. I hadn't seen them before and knew little about them. The two other guys went outside to call someone. I asked the guy how much he wanted for the medals and he said $1300.00, but the box also had two diamond rings in settings. A half and three quarter size diamonds. I don't know anything about diamonds, either. I offered him $1200.00 and he took it. As I was leaving one of the two guys that had left to make a call approached me and offered me $1500.00 for both of them. This was a long time ago. I've also read as many articles as I could find referencing these medals. Inevitably, there are articles of reproductions of these type medals. I've seen some and if you look close it's obvious they're reproductions. I've shown these to two very reputable auction houses that were interested if I ever sold them. I would have have considered this option but their commission was too stiff under 2k. 100% guarantee with everything I sell. Priority Mail, insured at no charge. I took the photographs with a flash and without. The initial listing photograph is the most accurate as far as tone. The photographs with the flash make the medals look too bright. The photographs without using the flash make them too dark. I would say somewhere in between is about what the tone looks like in hand. If you have any questions, please email me. Additional photographs can be taken. Thank you. Any reasonable offer will be considered. I don't know what these are worth. *** All photographs are taken with a macro lens. Condition: Misc. forging marks, light scratches, tarnish, wear and other small imperfections associated with two medals of this age., Country/Region of Manufacture: Unknown
