For auction is a wonderful arts and crafts shaped vessel made by The Grueby Pottery Company of Boston, Ma. The vase is called "Squat Overlapping Leaves" vase and it is done in a wonderful speckled matte green glaze. The vase is a nice cabinet size as it measures 5 1/2" in diameter and stands 2 3/8" tall. The bottom measures 2 7/8" in diameter. The top opening is 3 1/16" inside diameter.

The vase displays a squat round shape. The overlapping modeled leaves start at the bottom and extend over the middle. There is a shelf that goes inward from the top of the leaves and attaches to a raised neck or top opening. The glaze is an outstanding curdled and speckled moss green glaze.

The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips or dings. It is signed with the circular impressed mark which reads "GRUEBY . POTTERY . BOSTON . U.S.A." with a Lotus Leaf impressed in the middle. It also has the artist initials "ER" for Ellen Farrington. There is also a " 10/20 " incised mark. I thought that this might mean it was made October 20th of the year it was made but now I think it is number 10 of 20 examples made. The glaze is very unique and not your typical deep green that Grueby was so well known for. This is a later mark and I would say that this vase was made circa 1907-1911.

This is wonderful piece of art pottery is done in a beautiful and so commonly found Grueby glaze. I'm quite sure the buyer will be very pleased with their purchase. This is truly a unique example.

I want to apologize for slowing down my shipping time. Ebay forced me into managed payments in July 2020. I used to get my money in 24 hours. I now get it in 3-4 business days. I was told it would be better for me and my fees would go down. This has been the opposite as my fees have actually increased and now it takes longer for me to receive the payments. Because of this slowdown I will not ship until the payment has made it into my bank account. No store lets you out of the building with the merchandise unless it is paid for.

They are also now charging all sellers a commission of 12.35% on sales tax. Pay Pal used to charge 2.9% payment processing fee but Ebay has changed this to 12.35%. This is an increase of 9.45% on the sales tax portion. They are now making a profit on the sales tax and treating it as a sale which in my eyes is wrong!! They did the same on the shipping charges several years ago. They use to not charge anything and now they are charging 12.35% commission on shipping as well. This has raised the cost to ship items to you, the buyer and this is factored into my shipping charges.

If you feel what Ebay is doing is wrong or you don't agree them please contact Ebay and voice your opinion. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy.
