Beautiful, antique 18th Century, large 3 1/4" wide x 2 1/8" deep x 7/8" tall Continental mystery ( Probably Austro Hungarian Empire, can't locate my 18th / 19th century hallmarks book but new one on the way ) entwined serpents or snakes wedding gift snuff box! Hallmarked with a 6 sided cartouche full moon in the middle surrounded by 6 stars with a small C at the top, next to it is what appears to be a E on top of a upside down U. Reverse edge mark, horizontal oval with a closed in capitol A above a capitol F. Excellent condition with no issues, weighs 112 grams, acid tests strong bright red for sterling. Monogrammed with couples initials on front in shield cartouches.
