Up for your consideration is my vintage Made-In-Japan Quantaray 300mm f/5.6 Mirror Lens. The lens employs a T/T2 threaded mount (M42x0.75) that can be adapted to just about any interchangeable lens camera out there. There are a couple variants of this lens floating around and all of them are fairly rare but were sold under a handful of other brand names. This version of the lens has a smaller and slightly more recessed rear element that results in a minor vignette (FF digital / 35mm film) and allows for the use of shallower rear filters (two are included - ND-2 and ND-4). This is a character lens (donut bokeh), that performs better (sharper) than third-party 500mm f/8 mirror lenses I have come across all while being a more useful focal length. Please check out samples and reviews of these types of lenses online and learn about the pros and cons of using them! I've personally used it for some occasional astrophotography on a light tracker that definitely wouldn't be able to support a traditional telephoto, where it performed admirably (vignetting behavior aside). The lens is fairly well-collimated (and it hasn't taken any dings or had any falls since being in my collection). A traditional vintage telephoto lens will likely resolve more detail than these tiny curiosities, but these mirror lenses have a cleaner rendering when it comes to purple fringing and chromatic aberrations, all while being stubby and lightweight by comparison. All lens surfaces look to be at least single-coated, but regardless, a deep lens hood will prove to be quite effective for this lens type that is inherently low-contrast. Condition notes: The lens optics are clean and clear for the most part. One internal surface has about five or six linear wipe-marks or light scratches (visible in the image of the rear optic) that appear to have been there ever since the lens came off the assembly line. These will have a negligible effect on contrast but may introduce linear flare on point light sources in really high-contrast scenes, and could be visible in bokeh under similar conditions. The focus ring is operating smoothly with an occasional hitch/slip (a bubble in the lubrication perhaps?). There is no adjustable aperture - it's donuts for days! The case is in rough shape externally but it continues to protect its contents (Lens, front cap, rear cap, rear ND-2 [good condition], rear ND-4 [good condition]). This lens will be packed with bubble-wrap, cardboard, and foam insulation. I'll be filling any empty space in the original case with bubble-wrap, and will then pack the outside safely and securely. It will ship within the United States via USPS Priority Mail.
