DELTA POWERLITE LANTERN ERA ISSUED WW1 WW2 /RAILROAD
ANTIQUE Delta Powerlite Lantern with Patent # 2053591. There is no date. Research shows this style lantern to have been issued in both WW1 and WW2. From the information that I have gathered they started making these in the 19-teens. Other places say 1933. From a distance it looks like it is light green which would indicate possible military issue although it is possibly light and dark gray and that would indicate Railroad or Mining. Anyway....There is a side lable that says Delta in a triangle. This lantern has 4 settings...flash, solid, on and off. It has a top handle and a rear handle. Top handle has different locking settings. I believe that this particular model predated the plastic lense cover that came in the 1950's. Research shows that the early models had no front lense cover and I see no way to have put one on. For antique value this piece has never been restored. There is light surface rust and some rust inside the battery compartment. The lantern is way cool. A real conversation piece.
I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THIS LANTERN MAY IN FACT BE FROM 1945 TO 1950 AND THAT IT MAY IN FACT HAVE ORIGINALLY HAD A LENSE COVER. I am just adding this information into the listing as I do not wish to trick or fool anybody. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THIS IF GRAY/DARK GRAY AND NOT GREEN. To me, it could go either way as noted above. EITHER WAY, REALLY COOL LANTERN!!!
