A wonderful early blue Staffordshire transferware teapot and sugar bowl.
This is a bright and highly glazed early rectangular form, a nice light ironstone or earthenware with blue pearlware high glaze, crisp blue transfer.
The pattern features a floral border, the main scene depicts fisherman on the shore with a castle. I forget the pattern name.
Large teapot and sugar bowl, teapot measures 11" handle to spout and 7" tall to top of the finial, and the sugar measures 6 3/4" handle to handle and 6" tall. Compare with other items (Not Included!) in the last photo.
The set is in great condition, no chips, cracks, stains, or repairs, light age related crazing visible underneath in the white. The teapot lid with a pinhead size flick to a corner, and some glaze flakes on the raked rim. The sugar bowl with a flick or scrape to the foot rim. Incredible condition for almost 200 years old, I don't find finer examples of this old blue tableware in any pattern.
Bottom of the sugar has an impressed stamp indicating the potter, Enoch Wood & Sons, Burslem Staffordshire, ca 1820 - 1830.
Two beautiful early transferware for collection, decoration, or use around your home!!!
