BOZAK B302A CENTURY SPEAKERS - LEGENDARY 3-WAY SPEAKER - 1966 - SOUND AMAZING! Please read on for the repairs and mods I made to these speakers to make them create beautiful music for another 40 plus years! These Bozaks sound amazing!  Rudy Bozak knew what he was doing!  They date from 1966 if I am reading the date code of 6610 on each speaker correctly. The speakers have sequential serial numbers - E12070 & E12071 - and are marked left and right. The speakers contain original Bozak woofers and midrange drivers - the coveted B199A 12" woofers made from a sturdy and magically sounding pulp mixture and the even more coveted B209 midrange drivers, made off spun aluminum and coated with a rubber-like mixture.  I can attest that the woofer and midrange are worth their weight in audio gold. The Bozak tweets that came with these speakers were toast - a common occurrence if driven too hard with an out of spec crossover.  I replaced the tweeters - 4 in all and 2 per side - with new Audax AW014G1 tweeters.  The crossovers (not pictured) are screwed the bottom inside each cabinet.  The original insulation or damping material in each speaker is also still there! I purchased these speakers in 2011 in Indiana.  I drove over 300 miles round trip to get them! My Audio Karma user name is hardbop33 and with a quick internet search you can find my Audio Karma posts when I was researching my restoration of these speakers.  These posts have some excellent pics of the crossover work I performed! After researching what other Bozak owners did to bring these speakers back into use I elected to remove the original tweeters from in front of each woofer, and place them at ear level atop each speaker cabinet.  The tweeters were mounted in a simple wood frame and sound sound even better in an enclosed and/or damped box.  They have sounded so good I have been loathe to mess with them further! The stock crossovers were toast and all out of spec resistors and capacitors were replaced.  The original crossover board was kept but all new parts on top - ala the Pat Tobin 101T crossover.  The crossover repair and tweeter replacement and modifications turned these speakers into amazing performers!  Due to their weight I installed a plywood panel and casters on bottom to allow for easy movement.  Easily reversible. The grilles are screwed in place and are easily removable if you like the naked driver look. The speakers weigh too much for shipping and local pickup is the only option. If you want to have them shipped you must make all arrangements and I will work work with a shipper you hire.  My current main speakers are Focal Chorus 726v - which retail for close to $2,000.  I had been running the Focals for a couple months solid when I decided to hook these Bozaks back up after raving about them to a friend.  They have gotten sparing use in the three years since I purchased them.  I can honestly say they sounded 85 to 90 percent as good as a pair of $2,000 speakers.  These Bozaks cost a lot of money back in the day and the quality is still there.  If you were to place better tweeters on top in a better enclosure you would have some true giant killers here! These speakers work great and are nice survivors.  Due to the nature of vintage electronics these speakers are sold "as-is" and returns will not be accepted. Thanks!
