Fits a standard 36” x 79” door frame. The primary material is old growth redwood from the 1950s, stored in a barn until 2007. This door is dimensionally very stable, due to the age of the wood, and to the construction technique (splined at each joint). Three custom hammer forged steel straps on each side add to dimensional stability and lend an antique feel to the door. The steel strips have been blackened to reduce corrosion. Being made of dense redwood and steel straps, the door is very solid but closes well on the supplied hinges. The Kwickset handle and bolt lock match the forged steel straps. Keys will be included with the door. The finish on the door is a light coat of polyurethane, applied in a way to make the door look as though it is oiled. It is very smooth to the touch but still retains tooling marks. This, along with the dark rust stains from the original nail holes (pre-recycling) give to door a rustic look and feel. The door was installed under a large covered porch and shows no signs of weathering. The door looks the same from the inside view. Current price for a new door like this is $2625.
