Alvin Thompson-Navajo Native Am. Signed Sterling Silver Kokopelli Pendant/Pin/Brooch This wonderful handmade sandcast sterling Kokopelli pendant/brooch was made and signed by renowned Navajo Silversmith Alvin Thompson is offered for sale. Navajo (Diné) silversmith Alvin Thompson was active from the mid to late 20th century (Born 1955-deceased) . Alvin's identifying element in his hallmark is the conjoined letters "A" and "T". The "T" is formed from the crossbar of the "A". Alvin Thompson was a Navajo silversmith who specialized in the traditional sand casting technique in which molten metal is poured into a handmade, one-of-a-kind mold made of fine sand.  "Alvin is a highly regarded silver and goldsmith who has perfected the art of sand casting to produce his work. Alvin comes from a family of silversmiths. He believes that the simplicity and versatility of sand casting helps influence the flow of the design process". taken from Gregory Schaaf's book "American Indian Jewelry III:  M-Z. A graduate of the Automotive Technology Vocational School and the University of Arizona, Thompson has won awards at Indian markets.  His work is sold through the Thunder Eagle Native Art Gallery in Williams, AZ; the Heard Museum gift shop in Phoenix, AZ and at the National Museum of the American Indian in New York City. Approximate Dimensions: Length: 1-3/4" Width: 3/4" Weight: 7.1 Grams
  • Condition: Used
  • Condition: Used, possibly vintage handmade solid sterling silver Kokopelli figure pendant/brooch/pin, made using the sandcast method. Made and signed by Alvin Thompson - well regarded Navajo Silversmith. Some wear and patina is apparent, but appropriate for the item's age and probable amount of use. Item still functions as designed and is (at least in my opinion) still attractive despite its age and wear.
