Up for auction is an antique mechanical bellows. This bellows is unmarked but most likely dates to the early to mid 19th Century. The item is about 28" long & is constructed of brass & iron which is mounted on a mahogany base. The bellows is still working & in good used condition but it has had some work done to it over the years. It has been cleaned & polished, there are dings & dents, both to the brass & the wood base. The bracket that holds the fly wheel has also had a crude repair done to its base. The braket is secured to the base with six brass scews but four of them have been replaced with square head nails. Unfortunately, these nails did not keep the back of the plate secured firmly which resulted in the bracket not sitting flush to the base. The rubber band that turns the wheel is most likely a later replacement as well.
