Seller: mamasantiquessilverandsuch (1,000) 97.1%, Location: Clovis, California, Ships to: US, Item: 112217311048 Up for consideration is this Beautiful Antique Pair of Large Heavy Victorian Pedestal Cast Iron Planters Urns with Footed Bases. They have very nice patina, aging related rust. They would be a decorative focal point, center piece of any porch veranda, garden, yard, patio setting. We do not know the age but suspect they date to the 1800's. It would be very hard to find another matching pair, at any price! They are in very good antique estate condition. They both have considerable rust, corrosion, age related fading of paint and one has a light hairline crack (see photos). One must remember these are cast iron not ceramic, plastic or glass! There is no reason to believe the hairline crack will ever be any more than it is and if it was painted it wouldn't show at all. There is a hole that runs through both. We are not yard garden art experts but we would assume there should be a porous planter insert should work and are probably available. That would fill in the hole. And from reading about others online this is standard. Please view all photos carefully as they are part of the item description.INSPECTIONWe understand this is a considerable amount of money and encourage any serious buyer to view and inspect prior to purchase. Each measure approximately 18.25 inches in diameter at top, 7 inches in diameter at base and 17.75 inches tall. They each weight approximately just under 40 pounds on our bathroom scale. Please view all photos and ask any questions prior to purchase. Thanks for viewing our listing!SHIPPINGSorry shipping quoted for lower 48 United States only. When considering shipping cost consider weight and size! No doubt they will have to be shipped in separate boxes and both will have a hefty shipping surcharge. Also we will probably need to ship via FedEx Smart Post, this will reduce the cost but we will not be able to offer 'signature required'. So if you do not live in a safe and secure area, and feel they need that service, we may need to get a shipping quote. Thanks in advanced for your understanding!!!ABOUT OUR NEGATIVE FEEDBACKWe purchased a lot of antique lamps from a dealer in Glendale, CA. One of those lamps was a pulley lamp, made back in the late 1800's. In other words you could not buy that lamp new, anywhere for any price! The buyer who used eBay Global Shipping Program to purchase, lives in the Philippines. The lamp was shipped to Kentucky, where it was inspected prior to being shipped on to the buyer. When the lamp arrived the glass shade was broken and eBay said the buyer would have to open a claim in order to get a refund through Global Shipping; we requested the buyer do so. When the buyer opened the claim it was stated that the lamp was a replica! Folks this lamp had a Matador oil burner reservoir and many, many layers of old paint, from years of being repainted. When we ask the buyer why he stated it was a replica he said it was ugly and therefor a replica! We ask eBay if the our seller in Glendale could vouch for the fact that the lamp was in fact antique and they said no, the buyer has the final say! We had refunded the buyer full and in order to have the lamp shipped back here it was going to cost us over $100!We're in our late 60's and do this to stay active and make a little extra spending money, and have to deal with this! What else can we say, it's just sad! Condition: They are in very good antique estate condition. They both have considerable rust, corrosion, fading of paint and one has a light hairline crack (see photos). One must remember these are cast iron not ceramic, plastic or glass! There is no reason to believe the hairline crack will ever be any more than it is and if it was painted it wouldn't show at all. There is a hole that runs through both.
