Good Luck..We are the only ones out there that are offering such a selection of these beautiful pieces. WE do not clean them..So, sometimes you see them dusty, dark, brown, ...Please keep that in mind. We've been alot of these to museums that do chocolate demonstrations. Also we've sold these to the Smithsonian in D.C. as well as the Hershey Company. .Also remember that the photos will show with and without a flash. Sometimes the flash does not lend itself to appreciating the beauty of these antique metates. The flash seems to diminish the worn and aged patina that they have. A nice washing with warm  water, will do the trick...These are grinders, usually for corn that were used in the old days. On the photos you will see some of the shots darker than others. The difference is the camera flash. So keep that in mind. They are made out of lava rock,(heavy) same material as the "molcajetes"(pestle & mortar).  This Antique metate measures about 10Wx13Dx7H inches...The small mano measures about 1.75x7inches. The design on most of these old metates, incorporates three legs,with the back one usually being taller, to aid in the grinding process. Imagine that this is one piece..The top part and the three legs are all hand carved out of a big chunk of lava rock. Please understand that these are old and will sometimes, have knicks, chips, etc..all minor and nothing that jeopardizes its use. Lots of times the hand (mano) does not survive but this piece is complete with the mano. . These are heavy pieces usually 30-60 lbs each.Remember also that part of the cost of this item includes the shipping.  They have become great accent pieces in many, many homes...good luck.
