Up for auction is an Irish crochet lace robe or dressing gown, ca. 1900-1915. This item comes from the estate of Tillie Leeman in San Francisco. It is in excellent strong condition, but has not been cleaned I am sure for many years. Visibly, the worst case scenario is some light soiling on a 2-3 flowers. YIKES< I just listed and immediately reviewed some of the pics uploaded on Ebay! OMG, this dressing gown has no 'brownish-yellow/dirty' areas as shown in the pics! I will add new pictures within the next day...< As you can see, this piece is also unlined. Aside from being 'transparent', it is not soft against the bare skin, so an undergarment is necessary if worn. (Possibly an appropriate cleaning will also soften the crochet lace somewhat..?) This dressing gown with shawl collar features a variety of crochet flowers and embroidered flowers/leaves in different dimensions. The robe is closed/secured toward the left hip by two small metal hooks inserting into two strong cloth loops. When closed, the front has a very slight drapy appearance. The length is 52" measuring down from the back neckline; it is approx. 83" across the entire bottom; the sleeves are approx. 18" length. I can't fathom how to measure the waist on this type of garment. If you know, I'll follow your instruction. As an example: I am 5'9"/average weight; the gown is approx. 4" short of touching the floor; wraps/closes just fine around the waist with a bit of room to spare.

Fedex ship from San Francisco will range from a minimum of $____ to a maximum of $____. (I will add this cost shortly.) You will have the option of USPS Priority shipping to your zipcode or Fedex Ground Home Delivery. I don't particularly want to 'stuff' the robe into a USPS Flat Rate box, but I will leave that up to you.
Following the close of auction, you will receive an email from me confirming ship/ins. cost, followed by a Pay Pal invoice. Please DO NOT pay prior to receiving my invoice. If you are paying by Pay Pal, payment is due within 24 hours of the close of auction and shipping is within 1-2 business days. I will provide the Fedex or USPS tracking number on or before the day of shipment. If you are local to the San Francisco area, payment is required in person at time of pick up or delivery.

On Feb-11-11 at 12:14:54 PST, seller added the following information:
2/11: I have added several more pictures taken 'outdoors'. The color of this robe is definitely beigey or 'ecru'... Following another inspection, I did find one spot where a thread had broken (see pic.) Fedex Ground Home Delivery s/h/i will range from $11.00 to $14.00.
This item will be shipped via Fedex Ground Home Delivery only! I just noted the USPS Priority ship cost on the auction page. If that's correct, it's outrageous. The box size is 16 3/8 x 12 2/8 x 12 5/8 and packed weight will be somewhere between 3 - 4 pounds.
