Very early Handel Ware Stein or tankard. Originally this would have had a metal top that connected to the handle. My research leads me to believe that this dates to about 1900.
No chips or cracks. There is crazing and the outside has a white film/powdery residue on it. I wasn't sure how to clean it as it appears to be a residue left from a cleaning product. It does come off with a light scraping of your finger nail but I'm sure there is a better way to clean it.
Front shows a friar drinking some mead! Measures about 4.25" tall and 3" across the top!
***IMPORTANT NOTICE**** This item was originally purchased for $58. The buyer requested that it be returned because he felt that it was misrepresented. His thoughts were that the residue on the mug was the glazing. I am no expert! It could very well be the glazing. Again, this item appears to be in great shape for the age. I have been unable to locate another like it and have only seen a few Handel pieces for sale. Please look at all of the pictures carefully. I really thought that I posted very clear pictures of this item and a good description of it. You are buying as is.
