Large bronze and gold gilt Thai Teppanom guardian angel. This statuette is kneeling, with palms pressed together, is holding a heart in the hands with open eyes. Teppanom are a mythological angel and part of the Buddhist tradition in Thailand. They first came to earth when Buddha reached enlightenment and became Buddha's protector, then guardian of religious temples, and are seen as protectors of the house and land of the owner. These Thai angel statues are found in many of the royal palaces of Thailand, Buddhist temples, restaurants, and in many homes. The statue is in good condition, it does have some light wear to the nose, some signs of oxidation. Please see pictures for condition Height: 16" Width: 4" Depth: 5.25"
