Coppell TV Repair offers a REPAIR SERVICE for your 42'' Y-sustain module as shown on the picture below.
REPAIR SERVICE means that you have to send in your malfunctioning board for us to repair and return back to you. Sale of a serviced board or a trade-in service may also be available, depending on current availability. See the links below for comparison and explanations of the differences between sale, repair and trade-in.
Note there are several different boards with slightly different identifications. The difference is in the last letter, e.g. 6871QYH029A, 6871QYH029B, 6871QYH029R etc. All such boards are 100% compatible - they are just different batches/releases of the same board used in different brands to which LG has licensed its plasma technology.
This service addresses a number of common failures occurring with this board, such as complete loss of picture, washed (overly white) picture and others.
We replace the commonly failing components with new ones and test the board to make sure it is functional before we ship it back.
Typical turnaround time is 2 business days. It is not guaranteed, though, as we can't control the volume of boards that arrive on a given day or the damage on the board.
Warranty is 90 days after return of the board and is typically implemented as exchange (you get a different board the second time, when possible) or just another repair.
Sometimes the damage extends beyond the common failures that this service covers for a fixed price. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to know that upfront. We try to repair everything that comes our way - this is our business - but when we break even on a board we will contact you and tell you that it is not worth repairing. In those rare cases we will return the board restored in to the best of our abilities to its original state, issue refund and ask you to cancel the sale on eBay.
One common problem we see is with customers breaking the cover of the connector P1. It is on the lower left corner of the picture and is purposefully missing the cover so that you can see how it looks without it.
When cover or base is broken, the connector can not function normally and needs to be replaced before the board can be properly tested and used.
The board we receive must be physically intact and must have not been tampered with or serviced before.
If either of the two conditions is failed we reserve the right to reject the service. In such case we will return the board back without changes and issue partial refund so that you end up paying for 1) return shipping, 2) eBay transaction sales fees and 3) $10 Coppell TV Repair order processing fee; we would have waived that if we weren't receiving so many boards [improperly] serviced by other technicians that customers somehow expect us to bring back to normal as if they were never touched.
If course there may be exceptions to this rule. It is not designed to allow us scalp customers with $10 if they had tried to desolder something and figured it's not for them. Exceptions will be made for all kinds of situations but only if you contact us prior shipping the board and ask if we will make an exception.

All service jobs performed by Coppell TV Repair involve board testing on the input (to make sure that the board actually needs a service) and at the output (to make sure that it works before being sent to the customer).
All sustain boards that leave our facility have been tested on an actual TV. Period.
It is no less peculiar to us than it is to a customer when a newly received and freshly installed board does not work on the customer end. Yes, it happens. If anyone tells you it does not happen to them they are simply too young to know :-)
If it happens to you please contact us and let's work to resolve the problem. We'll likely ask you to send the board back along with any details that you can give us as to what has happened.
It will show signs of a service work, but it will look just fine.
