Seller: pennantique (3,515) 99%, Location: Scranton, Pennsylvania, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 272464308754 Penn Antique Restoration 6" Vintage Copper-plated Steel Spring-Loaded Flushbolt & Keeper Handsome, vintage, spring-loaded door flushbolt salvaged from Southeastern Pennsylvania. The casing of the flushbolt was made using thinner, wrought steel, but the bolt is a heavier gauge steel. The bolt comes with a heavy-duty, cast iron catch/keeper. Originally, the flushbolt was copper-plated and had a black lacquer finish ("Japanned"), surprisingly, it retained the majority of its copper plating and finish. If you are not familiar with this type of hardware, it's the locking mechanism installed on the bottom, lock stile corner of one of the doors in a pair of double doors, for the purpose of keeping one door stationary, while allowing the other to swing freely. The top of the bolt has a rectangular plate, which is designed to give you enough surface area to place your foot upon and push the bolt down into it's, "locked," position. To retract the bolt, simply push the button on the top of the case. Both pieces are fairly clean, with only a subtle patina. You could tell that these parts were well maintained because they are in excellent condition! They have small nicks and light scratches, but no breaks, cracks, chips, dents, or deep scratches. The spring is strong and the bolt returns to its rest/inactive position is ready for another lifetime of service. We also greased it to ensure that it operates as smoothly as possible.
