Firesteels and tinder are a must for all outdoors people, hikers, campers survival kits, emergency and disaster preparedness and survivalists. This neck kit includes a ranger (1/4" by 3") firesteel, scraper, magnesium tinder rod, and jute tinder fob all on a 3" 550 paracord lanyard. Magnesium is softer than those chain store bars, easier to scrape a pile that bursts into a very hot 4,000 degree F flame when hit with sparks from the firesteel. The jute fob can be used by cutting off 1/2" with your knife (the remainder will not unravel), then untwist/fluff it up and it will catch sparks and produce flame very easily, which can then be transferred to fine kindling.
