Seller: pennantique (3,515) 99%, Location: Scranton, Pennsylvania, Ships to: US, Item: 262741510579 Penn Antique Restoration 48"x83" Antique French Pine Doors w/ 20 Glass Lites Lovely set of antique, French doors salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Ohio. Each door is made of either Douglas Fir or pine and features an impressive arrangement of 10 true-divided old-fashioned, hand-blown, wavy glass lites. If you think that pine is a weak, soft wood; please keep in mind that the wood milled from modern pine trees, which only grow for a few decades before they are cut down, is not the same quality as the wood that was milled by our forefathers from trees that were hundreds of years old. These doors were built using the wood from mature pine trees, and exhibits the qualities of wood that has endured the test of time. As a result, it's physically harder, less susceptible to warping and twisting, and more insect and rot resistant than today's pine lumber. These 2 doors were not originally paired together. We acquired about 10 of these doors from a contractor, and didn't remove the doors from the home ourselves. We don't know exactly how the doors were installed, or if there were other doors that we didn't get, which may have been the actual mates of the doors that we paired together to make this pair. The windows and mullions of the doors in the 2 odd pairs line up with each other, but the hinge mortises are not located in the correct positions to allow the hinges to be installed where they need to be. This is a very minor detail, which is easily corrected. The mortises of one of the doors in each pair could be filled with solid wood, and new mortises could be made on the other side--email us for a quote. Hardware: Each pair comes with 2 flushbolts, but nothing else. We have a good selection of hardware to outfit these shutters (check out our eBay store). Condition: On the exterior side of the door, the top of the hinge stile, the bottom rail and a strip of molding from one of the windows is chipped. Otherwise, these doors are in very good shape with only surface scrapes, scratches, small nail holes--minor cosmetic blemishes which would be removed during the finishing process or covered if painted. All of the glass is intact and in great shape with only the light scratches that you may expect to find on 100-year old glass. Refinish/Repaint: We could refinish, repaint, or partially or completely strip the doors to prepare them for you to repaint or refinish. See the last photos in this auction as an example of our work. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote. Modification: We could also modify these doors to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
