Seller: pennantique (3,516) 99%, Location: Scranton, Pennsylvania, Ships to: US, Item: 262734452390 Penn Antique Restoration 27"x71" Antique Interior Door w/5 Panels Fantastic, antique, interior door salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Missouri. The door is made of solid pine or Douglas Fir, and is stained and finished on one side and painted white on the other. The stained side has 4 raised panels and the white side has 4 recessed (flat) panels. If you think that pine is a weak, soft wood; please keep in mind that the wood milled from modern pine trees, which only grow for a few decades before they are cut down, is not the same quality as the wood that was milled by our forefathers from trees that were hundreds of years old. This door was built using the wood from mature pine trees, and exhibits the qualities of wood that has endured the test of time. As a result, it's physically harder, less susceptible to warping and twisting, and more insect and rot resistant than today's pine lumber. Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of period hardware to outfit the door (check out our eBay store). * If you would like any of the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, please email us for a quote. Condition: Considering that the door is over 100 years old, it's in excellent condition. We found the door with a split upper panel, which we repaired. We just had to clean out the crack, apply glue, and move the larger portion of the panel towards the smaller portion. We created a couple of dents (see photo with yellow arrows) when we tapped the lager panel to move. However, these will be removed or made virtually unnoticeable once the door is sanded for a new coat of paint, or stripped to refinish. The rest of scrapes, scratches, and nail holes will also be removed by sanding, and what remains will be covered by paint or stain, and only appear as subtle "character marks." The door is strong, sturdy, and ready for another lifetime of service. Refinish/Repaint: We could refinish, repaint, or partially or completely strip the door to prepare it for you to repaint or refinish. See the last photos in this auction as an example of our work. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote. Swing: This door is currently set up to swing into the room towards the left. However, we could reverse it to swing into the home towards the right--email us for a quote. Modification: We could also modify this door to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, replace panels with glass, reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
