The Harpers Ferry National Historical Park design was added to the America the Beautiful series from the US Mint in 2016. However, this 5 oz. coin is made of .999 fine silver and measures 3” across. That means that all of the fine details are much easier to see compared to its standard sized counterpart.
The face value can be found on the obverse, just below George Washington. John Brown’s Fort is displayed on the reverse. This historic structure is one of the most widely known places in Harpers Ferry.
Since this coin was submitted to the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) during its first 30 days of issue, it received the First Strike designation. After it was examined, it received the grade of Mint State 69 and the Deep Mirror Prooflike designation. This coin is nearly free of imperfections and it is similar in appearance to a proof. The label displaying its grade has been signed by former Chief Engraver of the US Mint John Mercanti.
