Seller: den6sher (10,359) 100%, Location: Webster, Florida, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 370832407167 From our personal 35 year Brick Collection This offering is for a late 19th, early 20th century, Unused Clay "Orphan" Brick. From the WASHBURN Brothers Brick Company.[1867-1949] Which had their brick yard in Glasco, New York, just outside of Saugerties, and not far from Kingston, New York. Along the banks of the Mighty Hudson River. This image of a 1891 Map by Beers, depicting where this particular Brickyard was located,I borrowed to share for educational purposes; Showing the map here From back in the day, when bricks were made by hand. I own the Original Washburn Brick Mold, that this particular brick was made out of.Which I share here, just for refrence. It is Not for sale. Showing the mold here The brick molder, would take a clot of clay, roll it around in sand, then "dash" into to mould, which was sanded, so the clay didn't stick. The clay was then pressed into this mold by hand, with the excess clay being removed from the top of each mold with a strike.Which was a flat stick that was soaked in water. The brick I offer here, was most likely a reject, because it didn't cure perfect. This makes this brick RARE, One of a Kind, with Wonderful Character. These type of bricks are Our Favorite to Collect, and Very Tough to find.Since most rejects were dumped either in the Hudson River,or ground up to create perfect building bricks. You will Not find another just like this brick. You'll have the Only One! Large Precise Images created,so you can get the Full Jist of what your getting. I call this an "Orphan Brick" One which could never be used, since it's over-sized Notice how it's mis-formed/out of proportion.Very Cool. And the cracks you see, are from the making. It had a light surface washing. If so desired, you can give it a good cleaning.I personally Enjoy the bricks better when they aren't spic and span clean. There are a few minor chips, but none to be concerned about. Will make an Outragoous door stop or garden decoration Measures apx. 8" x 3 1/2" x 2 1/4" Varies by proportions.(the digital image color hue varies from actual) A VERY COOL LOOKING BRICK,WITH WONDERFUL CHARACTER"The Foundation of Our American History" Images depict condition well OTHER HUDSON RIVER - CATSKILL MOUNTAIN - FloridaPast BRICKS LISTEDShipping get's cheaper the more you buy You pay s/h, $12.00* Flat Rate Includes Delivery ConfirmationNon U.S. customers, please ask for your First Class International Shipping Rate {As always, safe & secure packing} *U.S. rate only.
