DESCRIPTION:
A matching pair of solid ebony wood dishes with silver 'Pins' embellishment, both hallmarked London 1913, maker William Robertson. The dishes measure 2.75 inches in diameter, 1 inch tall and have 'EBONY MADE IN ENGLAND' stamped to the base.
This extremely slow growing hardwood was imported from British India and was a popular vanity set material with both men and women from around the turn of the century to the mid 1920s, when the timber became too rare and expensive to be economically viable. These ebony relics of the period have been highly prized ever since.
CONDITION:
The ebony is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks, they have a highly polished patina. One silver embellishment has small section of the letter 'n' missing, otherwise they are in excellent condition with no missing fixing pins.
