This gold Liberty Head quarter eagle - also called a Coronet Head or Braided Hair quarter eagle - bears Christian Gobrecht's classic designs. The obverse depicts 13 stars around Liberty, who wears a diadem inscribed LIBERTY. A string of beads holds her hair up in a bun. The reverse shows an American eagle with Union Shield, oak branch and three arrows. Encircling the design are united STATES OF AMERICA and 2 1/2 D.
